Learn the latest security threats and countermeasures

We are planning to introduce the recent cyber threats, the problems the general public wants to know and countermeasures.　There are many opportunities to learn from the media such as TV, such as cyber attacks on companies and personal information leakage cases from smartphones etc., but I think that many people do not know the content itself.　In this course, we will provide information on cyber security for the general public.

13:10 – 13:50	Mechanism of wireless LAN (Wi-Fi) and security measures（Assistant Professor　Yoshiaki Kasahara ：Research Institute for Information Technology Kyushu University）
	Introducing the mechanism and danger of wireless LAN (Wi-Fi), which is generally used when connecting to the Internet with a smartphone or PC, and points to keep in mind for safer use at home or on the go.
13:50 – 14:30	Cyber security from the perspective of carriers（Tetsuya Egawa：(株）QTnet Co., Ltd.）
	We will explain the trends of cyber attacks and damage cases from the perspective of Internet service providers.
14:30 – 15:10	Internet threats and countermeasures aimed at you（Nanae Suzuki：Yahoo Japan Corporation　CISO Room Security Promotion Office）
	I will explain the threat of the Internet that targets you and the tips to protect yourself from the threat based on actual examples. I will also introduce a little about Yahoo! JAPAN’s efforts for safety and security.

	Introducing the situation of cybercrime, the efforts of the Fukuoka Prefectural Police, the damage and countermeasures of cybercrime.
16:10 – 16:50	10 major threats to information security seen from the scene of incident response（Sukenori Uekusa：NTT DATA INTELLILINK Corporation）
	We will explain what is happening at the site of incident response and the perspective of not only prevention but also post-occurrence response.

　”Sekyu Talk” has been held for the general public at venues along the subway every year, but this time it will be at Kyushu University Ito Campus.

　As mentioned in the title, the relocation that has been underway since 2005 has completed the relocation of the four faculties of liberal arts and agriculture from the Hakozaki campus by September of this year, and the Ito campus has been completed.

To commemorate this, we hold various events.

We, the Cyber Security Center, have decided to plan and implement the annual “Sekyu Talk” as a related project.

What is Cyber Security Month?

　Many cyber security problems that affect people’s lives, such as increasingly sophisticated cyber attacks and large-scale leaks of personal information, have been reported.

In order for everyone to enjoy the benefits of information and communication technology (IT) with peace of mind, it is necessary for each and every citizen to raise their interest in cyber security and address these issues.

For this reason, the government has designated February 1st to March 18th as “Cybersecurity Month” in order to promote efforts for cybersecurity in a focused and effective manner.

During the period, we will intensively carry out dissemination and enlightenment activities related to cyber security in cooperation with various enlightenment bodies as well as government agencies.
